I’ve kind of gotten over the first blog them i’ve done, it looked pretty cool but the css fucked up when i posted more than a few posts, because they were all constrained to little boxes. I did like it, not so functional though. So in that view I’ve created a new one, I think I might keep this, it’s a kind of theme/name that I’ve been wanting to play around with for quite a while now. I just need to figure out how to put more than one post on the one page/section… I made the column longer but that didn’t really help at all… time for the elimination process I suppose. Gah.

edit – well i figured out how to get more than 1 post on a page, quite simple really, just the click of a button, dunno how I missed that the first time haha.

I’ve been thinking a bit about the blog theme. I want to try and keep a blog after this project to put my work on which is why I styled it in the way I did because it shows some of my work, I’ve tried having one before but I ended up getting extremely lazy and never updating it and I figured no one would look anyway haha, that’s not the attitude I know!

I am becoming slightly (note slightly!) more motivated to get my work out there for people to see. I have a couple of things about this though that I have been thinking about. One of them is that I’m not sure what theme I would like it to be based on, I mean, my current one that I designed for the blog theme project over at tumblr I like but I feel there are two sides to my work which don’t often fit in the same style, on the one hand there is the more illustrative, darker stuff which I used in my tumblr blog and on the other hand is the work I do which is more colourful, psychedelic etc, I don’t know how to meld the two styles together to create a cohesive theme to support both of them.

So what do I do? Create two blogs? (I have enough trouble updating one of them!) Create a website? (in what theme??)

Yayness! So I ended up signing up for 3 hosting services, the 2nd one I couldnt make it do ftp in dreamweaver, I dont think I had typed the details properly but I couldn’t figure out which details were correct (believe me I tried multiple combinations), so I signed up with the hosting site that was linked to in that group email (thanks so much for that link – tops!) and it worked! Isn’t it nice when things just work. Very good site, they had all the ftp/username details even for morons like me who don’t exactly know what details to use haha.

So, I guess this is the part where I reflect on the overall experience of making the site? Well actually I’m glad now I know how to make a (basic) website and get it up and running (with some very irritating hiccups along the way haha). I think it’s a pretty useful skill to learn these days, and I might get the chance to work on my employer’s site (because they only just realised how shit it is) which is a plus. I still prefer the design side of things though, but now it’s not only just ‘pretty pictures’ but ‘pretty clickable pictures’. Wooohooo.

AHHHHHHHHHH. Time for another whinge re hosting and the like. I’ve gotten my site onto the internet howeverrrr the tickets and separate artist pages dont work and nobody can work out why, so, as Geoff suggested, I should try another hosting site because it doesnt look like theres anything wrong with the files. So now I’ve signed up to another hosting site and trying to set it up through Dreamweaver and apparently the server’s down, how can it be down if I’m on it!

I do not understand! And am beginning to get extremely irritated! Because I just spent pretty much all night reworking the links in some of my pages because I stupidly moved some of the files (won’t be doing that again), and now I have it all working and pretty and it ain’t well, working! I am entering everything as it shows in the lecture for the ftp transfer but it’s not connecting. So now I’m going to try another hosting site and hope that works. By the time this is finished I’ll probably have signed up for 50 free hosting accounts oh well, live and learn.

End of rant.

I’ve managed to get my site online under a subdomain at atspace.com, but I won’t put the link up just yet, because some of the links to sub pages aren’t working for some unknown reason to me. Pah. So once I figure out I shall post the link. Are you all excited! O.O I for one can’t frickin wait so I can post it and be done with it. Nearly there, nearly there…

okay so i had my blog over at tumblr all set up nicely and everything looked fine… on my mac, until I opened the site on my pc & it was too large, things are stretching across the screen and not all of the extra little things I added fits, guess I have to redesign it to fit into other monitor specifications as well. Grrr. Why cant everyone have nice macbook pros so I only have to design to one size haha. why cant anything ever be easy & simple?! pcs suck.

So excuse me whilst I fiddle around with sizes etc if you click on the link to the blog and everything looks a bit all over the place. It’s kind of like my brain at the moment…

Hey! I just wrote a whole blog post and it magically disappeared! Just what I needed for a Monday night! And also my mouse died because I dropped it (the usb thing died and became loose, my brother fixed it temporarily but it decided it was too much and decided to depart me), so I had to buy a new one for $68, it’s pretty cool it has a small usb thing and if I drop it again it shouldnt die this time, haha life story.

Mmm. Maybe I should have signed up for hosting before I created a site? I’m not sure. Its kind of confusing at the moment, I’ve signed up for hosting at a site called atspace.com and I tried doing that thing in dreamweaver that was in the lecture except it didn’t really work, I just hope it doesn’t bugger up what I’ve already done on my site… I just need to work out the nitty gritty bits in getting my site online & working.

I’m also thinking about changing my blog theme, there’s some pretty nifty ones out there I’ve seen so maybe I’ll work on that. I want a cool background you know like an illustrative one. We’ll see. Is it too late to change blog sites?

just watched the week 12 lecture, that movie was pretty cool. ah I feel so braindead, been doing a first aid course all day, resuscitating dummies, you know it makes you quite tired haha, and I got 3 questions wrong in the assessment, so if youre in a life threatening situation dont rely on me for first aid haha. FYI they were those 2 options that are very similar and you dont know which one to pick, it’s always the way.

So. In an effort to ‘stylize’ and make the most of this blog, let’s start with pictures, some words, some audio, some video and some general things I’d like people to be aware of… (this could take a while)… in keeping with the ‘music festival’ theme…
